EC – Council Certified Network Defender: Definition and Needs

EC – Council Certified Network Defender(CND) certification program focuses on creating Network Administrators who are training on protecting, detecting and responding to the threats on the network. Network administrators are usually familiar with network components, traffic, performance and utilization, network components, traffic, performance and utilization, network topology, location of each system, security policy, etc.

What is a Certified Network Defender (CND)?

CND is a skills-based, lab intensive program based on a job-task analysis and cybersecurity education framework presented by the National Initiative of Cybersecurity Education (NICE). A CND gets the fundamental understanding of the true construct of data transfer, network technologies, software technologies so that they understand what software is automating and how to analyse the subject material.

Moreover, network defence fundamentals, the application of network security controls, protocols, perimeter appliances, secure IDS, VPN and firewall configuration, intricacies of network traffic signature, analysis and vulnerability scanning are also covered which helps the Network Administrator design greater network security policies and successful incident response plans. These skills will help the Network Administrators foster resiliency and continuity of operations during attacks.

How is a Certified Network Defender Helpful?

The purpose of the CND credential is to validate the skills that help the Network Administrator foster resiliency and continuity of operations during attacks. With the growth of the market comes the growth of employment opportunities. Even though a wide skill gap exists in the cybersecurity industry, millions of cyber enthusiasts are yet to enter the industry.

Even advancements in technology, such as the rising usage of mobile devices and integrated security solutions, are working toward the creation of strong of a strong foundation for all network security enthusiasts.

Conclusion

Networks are no simple connectivity of systems and servers, they are very complex systems compromising servers, routers, and endpoints. Network administration is a sophisticated task and the job of a network administrator has become challenging and often demand concentration on parameters beyond their regular administrative work.
